SUNC Code of Conduct
It is the responsibility of each member of the South Upwey Netball Club Community to read and familiarize themselves with the code of conduct that pertains to them, and adhere to the code at all times. Breaching the conditions of this Code of Conduct can be regarded as misconduct, which may result in disciplinary action.
Players

Play by the rules.

Play for fun, not to please anyone else.

Applaud good play by both teams.

Be a fair winner and a fair loser.

Maintain a high standard of personal behaviour while on the court, without engaging in dangerous play

Netball is a team sport. Work equally hard for yourself and your team

Be proactive, respectful and honest in communication with coaches/team officials

Attend all training and games. If unable to attend due to illness or another commitment, advise the coach as soon as possible.

Respect players and coaches by being punctual, and ready to play/train (properly attired).

Be aware of and follow all association and club policies

Any concerns should be raised through the appropriate channels (noted in our policies)
Coaches
-
Place the safety and welfare of the players above all else
-
Treat all players, coaches, match officials and other umpires with respect

Take appropriate action to manage dangerous play

Children learn through observation- be a model of good sports behaviour.

Encourage all children to play according to the rules.

Focus on supporting all children to learn and play the game; applaud effort - winning is a bonus.

Applaud good play by all teams. So respect for the judgment of officials and opposing coaches.

Never criticise a child for making a mistake or losing a game.

Be courteous, respectful and open to discussion and interaction

Be reasonable in your demands on players' time, energy and enthusiasm.

All players deserve equal time on court

Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of the players

Follow the advice of medical practitioners in regards to players’ injuries

Be proactive, respectful and honest in communication with players

Be proactive, uphold their own and the club’s integrity and seek support and guidance from the committee where necessary

Be aware of and follow all association and club policies

Parents/Carers

If your child is interested, encourage them to participate. However, if your child actively does not wish to participate, do not force them. Children are involved in organised sport for their enjoyment, not yours.

All people involved in Netball should:

Provide a safe environment for children and young people and comply with the Child Safety in netball Code of conduct.

Ensure that any physical contact with others is appropriate to the situation and necessary for the person’s skill development within netball.

Refrain from intimate relations with a person with whom you have a position of authority over.
-
Report breaches of the Policy or the Code to the appropriate persons in a position of responsibility and of authority.
As a member of our club and/or affiliated with our club, everyone will adhere to the Netball Victoria codes of conduct.
